How your journal is handled.

Portion is an early-stage food journal developed by Ryann Chandiari. This notice describes the application’s data flows. Contact contact@portion.my.id with questions or data requests.

Meal descriptions and AI

When you request an AI estimate, the text you enter is sent through Portion’s server to Google Gemini. An optional, explicitly enabled Claude evaluation configuration sends the text to Anthropic instead. The connected provider appears in Settings. AI-generated ingredients, portions, assumptions, and nutrition values are estimates that you can review and correct.

Portion’s server does not write raw meal descriptions to its own files or request logs. A provider receives the submitted text and processes it under its own terms; deployment infrastructure may also process network metadata. Avoid including sensitive personal information in meal text. Profile measurements and daily targets are not automatically added to AI requests.

Nutrition lookups

Food names, brands, and preparation may be sent to USDA FoodData Central or Open Food Facts when you search for a nutrition record. These providers do not receive your account journal or body profile from that lookup. A selected record’s source ID, link, and nutrition values are saved with the confirmed meal.

Account and journal storage

Supabase manages account authentication and stores confirmed structured journals, including meals, usual meals, package labels, optional targets, and any body profile you choose to save. The supplied database migration restricts journal access by account owner. Vercel hosts the public site and server endpoints in the hosted configuration.

Supabase authentication uses browser storage to maintain your session. Local device-only mode stores the structured journal in your browser. The public sample walkthrough does not call a provider, save a journal, or create an account.

Your choices

You can edit or delete meal entries, reset targets, and export a journal backup in Settings. Account data stays stored until changed or deleted; signing out does not delete it. A self-service account deletion flow is not currently included. Contact Portion to request account or cloud-data deletion. Provider and infrastructure retention is governed by their policies.

Third-party policies

• Google Gemini API terms: unpaid-service inputs and outputs may be used for product improvement and processed by human reviewers; terms vary with region and billing.
• Anthropic privacy policy and commercial terms apply when Claude is enabled.
• Supabase privacy policy and Vercel privacy policy.
• USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts; Open Food Facts data is available under ODbL.

The project does not include third-party advertising or analytics integrations. This notice must be updated if its providers or data flows change.
